Bullmastiff Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I'm a healthy 70-pound, 5.5 year old who was rescued by DAWG in April 2016 and have been looking for a forever family since. My temporary home is with other dogs and I used to play with other strong dogs, so another home with other dogs would be fine. I already know sit, down, wait, stay, come, go to bed, touch the hand, and look at me. I wasn't allowed to go out of my yard before I was rescued, so I'm a little unsure about the outside world and how to meet other dogs. Thanks to my foster dad, I've already learned to accept barking from little dogs and am working on how to interact with strange big dogs. I'm fairly low energy, so if ... Rescue Me ID: 16-11-27-00242Mamas (female)

Bullmastiff Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mamas is a gentle sweetheart, a snuggler. She has received basic obedience training and walks easily on a leash. We adopted her about 1 1/2 years ago from a rescue organization; before that she had been fostered for about 2 years (was difficult to place because of her age and breed). Until recently we had no problems with her at all, including with our other dogs (also rescues). She usually gets along with both dogs and cats but recently fought with one of our other female dogs; it looks like the other dog was the instigator, probably challenging Mamas for the alpha spot, but we can't be sure. She has never shown any aggression towards ... (Read More)people, including little kids. It breaks my heart to give her up, but we cannot keep her and the other female together. She is in a temporary foster home at the moment, but if we cannot find a permanent home soon her future is bleak. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-11-23-00033Cooper (male)

Bullmastiff Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

Bullmastiff/Pit Bull Mix Cooper is a cheerful, relaxed 5-year-old fawn-with-white neutered male Bullmastiff and Pit Bull mix who was abandoned by his owner at a local veterinary office because the owner was not allowed to have dogs where he lives. Weighing just over 80 lbs, Cooper is a mellow and cooperative dog. He adores being with people and just hanging out, doing whatever you're doing. He is highly adaptable, and would be a great side-kick to keep you company at work or around the house. Cooper loves to go for rides in the car, or to have a snooze in the sun. He is relaxed around dogs of all sizes when out and about; at home, we think ... (Read More)he would be happiest as a single dog or possibly paired with a well-matched female dog. Cooper walks decently on leash, but some additional obedience training will really help him shine; he is eager-to-please and finds treats very motivating, so additional training with him should be a breeze. Cooper has a spectacularly large head that for sure will attract attention wherever he goes; he loves to rest it on the knee of his human friends and be pet. We can't overstate how loving and gentle this boy is--just lean down for a kiss and let him show you. Cooper experienced a lifetime of neglect, and he has hip dysplasia that is responding well to supplements--but none that stop him from being a fabulous best pal! Cooper will be an awesome addition to any loving household eager to have a mellow, devoted best friend. Rescue Me ID: 16-06-08-00507Black Diamond (male)

Bullmastiff Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Black Diamond is 7 years young and weighing in at stunning 60 lbs. He was neglected his entire left and left outside to live in a cold backyard. His owners dumped at a shelter because they didn't have any time for him anymore and wanted a younger puppy. He sat at the Downey Shelter for 3 months where he waited in pain for someone to save him. He is backed by Miracle Foundation SD rescue and was rescued the day he was set to be euthanized (2 hours to spare!!!) When rescued it was noticed his extreme discomfort and inability to stand properly. After many vet visits and an MRI, it was determined he had a bulging disk in his lower spinal cord ... (Read More)impacting the nerve root endings making it nearly impossible to stand, walk, and sit without extreme pain. He is currently in the weeks after surgery, recovering and getting strong. His surgeon is astounded at how quickly he is recovering!! He is a brand new doggy! He will be staying in recovery until mid July (but would love to meet possible fosters/adopters during that time). We desperately need to place him in a foster or loving forever home. Immediately after being rescued, BD was in a foster home for two weeks where he got along amazing with their 1 year old female medium sized dog. Unfortunately the foster was unable to keep him due to a loss in their family and with no one able to step up, we reluctantly had to place him in boarding. The staff quickly fell in love with him and went above and beyond to make his stay there feel like 'home' as much as possible. He also had visitors regularly visiting to play with him in the play yard and take him on walks. Black diamond is an amazing dog who needs someone to help him feel safe and confident again. He does well with like size dogs with a calm demeanor. In his previous home, he was not socialized with smaller dogs or cats so a home without would be best for him. Since being abandoned by his owners, he has had no stability leaving him feeling anxious and nervous. He truly seeks love from all humans! He LOVES being outdoors and adventuring. He enjoys car rides, walks, and lounging on the couch next to his human. He is silly, fun loving, gentle (eats treats so soft out of the hand), and truly yearns for a companion that won't let him down. He is playful (not overly), LOVES treats and really loves his Pink Kong Chew Toy (he demands to have the pink one and wants nothing to do with the others, ha!) Without a foster, Black Diamond will go back to boarding which is not ideal at all. He shuts down in boarding, does not like sleeping on the cold hard concrete, and is prone to possible infection and high stress. We are desperate to find a foster (or even better) forever home for this gentle, kind, and loving dog ASAP. We need to place him in a home within the next 6-8 weeks! Even with years of neglect he licks very stranger as if they are the world to him. Black Diamond is a true jewel and will be a great member of anyone's family. PLEASE contact only if serious & interested. Thank you! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Bullmastiff in California
Bullmastiff Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Bullmastiff is a large, powerful dog related to the English Bulldog. Bullmastiffs are very loyal and devoted to their families. Bullmastiffs are very protective and make good guard dogs.
