Bullmastiff Rescue Information: The Bullmastiff is a large, powerful dog related to the English Bulldog. Bullmastiffs are very loyal and devoted to their families. Bullmastiffs are very protective and make good guard dogs. A Bullmastiff is a good family pet and gets along well with children, but should be supervised with little ones because of its large size. Bullmastiffs need firm masters. Bullmastiffs need attention and to be treated like part of the family; they should not be left alone. Bullmastiffs may be lazy and not enjoy exercise but need a daily walk and should not be allowed to put on too much excess weight. A Bullmastiff can live in an apartment if it gets enough daily exercise.

Bullmastiff Trivia: The Bullmastiff was first bred to track down and catch poachers. Rather than attacking, a Bullmastiff will knock down an intruder and then pin him down. Bullmastiffs date back to the late eighteenth century. Bullmastiffs are used as watchdogs by the Diamond Society of South Africa. Bullmastiffs are used for police work.
